Privacy Policy

I. Comment Policy

POISE loves to hear what our readers have to say to us and to each other. However, POISE is a private online publication, and we reserve the right to delete any comments/conversations we find offensive, irrelevant, or inappropriate.

We aim to maintain an environment of free and open conversation, but we expect that sometime people might post negative comments or instigate virtual verbal fights. When this happens, we take the initiative and close that posting off to comments. If one repeatedly abuses our policy, we will delete all of his/her comments on every post, and block his/her IP address. If you have questions about this policy, about comments on the POISE Member Message Board, please email us here.

POISE encourages our readers to talk with each other, to network with each other, and to facilitate conversation through the message board. We invite all POISE readers to comment as often as possible. But we would also like to ask the readers to be considerate of the relevance of their comments under each topic.

II. Image/Content Use Policy

POISE respects the rights of photographers and other original rights holders. As such, we do not steal, borrow, or reuse protected images or other content (video, audio, etc) without permission in advance from the content creator or owner.

If you feel that an image (or other content) has been used without appropriate permission, please contact the Creative Directors, Lauren Williams or AiLun Ku here and they will remove it immediately and begin an investigation. In your email, please include the URL of the page in question. If possible, please include any evidence that you, or someone you know, are the original rights holder.

III. Media Ethics and Other Policies

POISE aims to incorporate standard journalism practices and ethical standards into our entire online publication, blogs included.

The Blogs and the POISE Message Board
The blogs are meant to be an interactive part of our website between us and our readers. POISE likes to share with everyone the growth of our publication and we also like that our readers share their work and lifestyle experiences with us and each other. If you would like to a regular POISE blogger, please contact us here.

Editorial Consistency
While the POISE editorial team ensures that the editorial content of the publication remains consistent, we encourage our readers to speak their mind and express their own voice through the blogs and message board comments. We believe in diverse personalities.

Advertising
Please note that all advertising on POISE is clearly marked as advertising, and there is strict separation between the editorial content and advertisements. Editorial content will never be influenced by any advertiser relationship.

Other conflicts of Interest
Individual writers for the POISE Creative Staff are discouraged from writing about things related to their professional lives (e.g., writing about a new promotion offer at X company if the writer pulls in a pay check from X company), but sometimes editorial interest may cause occasional overlaps. If that becomes the case, the writer has an obligation to disclose the professional relationship.

Statement on Poaching
Editors and contributors may not use the POISE name to gain entrance to an event or gather research for a post and then give or sell that post to another online publication or media site. This is intended to protect the POISE brand. To prevent confusion and bad feelings, POISE prefers that its editors and contributors notify POISE when they are writing for another online publication or media site, especially if the writing is related to the section/beat the writer covers for POISE. This policy does not apply to personal blogs.

Our Links List
We love to surf the web and we have a special webpage for intereing links on our website that we share we our readers. If you would like to be listed under our webstie, please read the following carefully:
1. Your site must link to POISE, because reciprocity is the key to any relationship. Please do not ask for a link if you do not link to us.
2. The site must be well-written, frequently updated, and mostly-positive in tone.

Statement on Authorship
POISE is an online publication. The posts and the comments made on POISE by its editors and writers reflect only those views held by the author of the post and not by POISE, or any other organization.
