The Trouble with Goodbye
The trouble with goodbyes is that no matter how prepared you may think you are, they are never easy. One of my good friends is packing up a rental car and moving to Chicago in less than four hours from now.Tonight a few of us gathered at an obscure West Village bar for an intimate evening of Honey Wheat drafts (delicious, by the way) and avoiding the inevitable. In the past year I’ve suffered through many of these surreal gatherings and it hasn’t gotten one bit easier.
My community of close friends is scattering to ever corner of the U.S. Though I delight in planning trips to visit everyone in their new cities, it is really hard for me to face the distance. Plus, listening to this nostalgic mix I made for my friend’s road trip to Chicago is seriously not helping matters. I guess this is the trouble with “growing up” …
